Buyers Pest Inspection 

In the ACT if you are purchasing a unit or apartment the seller doesn’t have to provide an inspection package unlike when they are selling a house.  Therefore it is in your best interest to obtain your own pest inspection, and give yourself piece of mind.

You need to satisfy yourself that the unit/apartment you are purchasing is free of wood destroying insects, such as borers, termites (white ants) and timber decay. 

No property is safe from termites and an inspection should be just a matter of course when buying any property.  Termites are the cause of the greatest economic losses of timber in structures in Australia.  Australia’s subterranean termite species (white ants) are the most destructive in the world.

In fact it can take as little as three months for a termite colony to severely damage almost all the timber in a home.

The report should include an identifiable summary on whether the property is sound and/or free of destructive pest attack, and provide a detailed listing of all the areas inspected, where there has been damage, the report should identify the location and its extent.
